Technology has been a big part of my educational life. There were many classes when technology was used and it was very beneficial to me as a visual and audio learner. My high school had smart boards in every classroom, we had lots of computers in classrooms throughout the years. Overhead projectors were used when I was in elementary school and now we use Elmo's. PowerPoint I feel though has been the most used technology. Many classes my teachers and professors used PowerPoint's to guide their lectures and used PowerPoint's to get their ideas and points across to us. It helped me as a student, because I'm a visual learner so seeing the words and pictures as the teacher talked helped me retain the information.
I feel technology is a very important part of our lives and this is true in a classroom and school setting as well. Technology is very beneficial in so many ways. It is hard to use a lot of it in young elementary school grades, which is what i want to teach. But it is still possible. In the pre-k class I am interning in now we use the Promethean board, PowerPoint, star fall and microphones on a daily basis. technology is a large part of our everyday lives and this is true in a classroom as well.
I have a hard time following a professor when he/she is lecturing because sometimes they go too fast. This is when power points really come in handy by helping me to keep up and not miss the importance of the lecture. I believe that when you were in grade school you were mostly in level one of taxonomy which is observing. This is because you were mostly a passive spectator of technology, where your teacher was the one using and you just witnessed the use through things like PowerPoints, smart boards, and overheads.
ReplyDeleteAt the beginning of our class I thought I was learning all of this for no reason because I didn't think it applied to the elementary education setting. I was so wrong! Your post about how much you use it in the pre-k classroom shows how much we can use it for elementary! It's crazy how much technology is in our lives and now the classroom.
